Ashley Visagie is an education researcher and activist working to promote critical awareness and social action toward a more just, nurturing and sustainable future. With a strong foundation in critical social theories, Ashley has completed an M.A. from Regent University and an M.Ed with distinction in Policy, Leadership & Change from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Currently, Ashley is pursuing a PhD in education at UCT, focusing on the emergence and formation of radical teacher activism through a Bourdieuean lens. Ashley’s scholarly activism in the public sphere reflects a deep concern for the inequitable and unjust education system in South Africa, particularly its impact on marginalised and socially excluded youth.
