Vanessa is a PhD student at Nazarbayev University. Her doctoral research focuses on education and youth national identity in post-Soviet Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. She holds an MA in Education and International Development from UCL Institute of Education, London, where her research looked at education and youth national identity in multi-ethnic Fergana valley of Uzbekistan. She also holds an MA from Université Bordeaux Montaigne, where she completed her dissertation focusing on teachers’ online community of practice. She has taught in the UK, France and Japan, and also worked as an education consultant in ODA projects of JICA. She has been particularly involved in Bangladesh as a project coordinator for the education quality improvement and continuous professional development for primary school teachers.
