Naureen Durrani is a Professor of Education in the Graduate School of Education, Nazarbayev University (NU). She moved to NU from the Centre for International Education, University of Sussex.  She has a wide range of international experience in teaching and research alongside knowledge exchange and stakeholder consultation. Her research interests lie in the social, cultural, political, and economic influences on education policy formulation and enactment, and the outcomes of education on identity formation and gender relations. She draws on poststructural and postcolonial theories to produce contextually relevant and situated studies on a range of topics including curriculum, teacher governance and education and citizenship and gender identities. Naureen has published widely on these topics. Her research has been funded by UK research Councils—Arts and Humanities Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council—the Department for International Development, UK, the Australian Agency for International Development, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and Nazarbayev University.
