Sherzod Khaydarov

Sherzod is a lecturer and a module leader at Westminster International University in Tashkent. He matriculated at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and pursued teacher training courses at Fukuoka Education University and the University of Tsukuba with Japanese Government scholarship before proceeding to MEd in International and Comparative Education at the University of Hong Kong. His Master research focused on teachers’ perceptions of shadow education (private tutoring) in Uzbekistan. He also works as a national research consultant at the UNESCO office in Tashkent. His research interests focus on internationalization of higher education, international branch campuses and shadow education.

Political Economy Analysis of Importing Higher Education: Russian International Branch Campuses in Uzbekistan

This research aims to understand the factors influencing the expansion of Russian university branch campuses in Uzbekistan through a critical discourse analysis of relevant policy documents and interviews with administrators and faculty of branch campuses.
